Firefighters return to Farwell Drive for another fire
ROCKLAND — Firefighters returned to 1 Farwell Drive, Thursday, Aug. 3, after contractors reported smoke coming from the ceiling of the business. The noontime call comes two days after firefighters battled extensive flames within the same building’s interior.
Rockland responders were assisted by Rockport, Camden, and Warren fire departments. Rockport FD was first on scene, having been tending to a minor two-vehicle crash when the 12 p.m. fire alert sounded.
In the Tuesday, Aug. 1, incident, which was reported to Knox Regional Communications at approximately 6:45 a.m., damage was limited to a mezzanine and two storage areas within the facility. On Thursday, Rockland’s ladder truck provided a platform while a large hole was created for access into the attic area, allowing firefighters to vent the new smoke and crawl into the space. At the opposite side of the structure, Camden FD stood ready to create vent holes if needed.
Farwell Drive (Route 90) remained open to traffic.
