Penobscot Bay YMCA seeks volunteer stylists and barbers for free Back-to-School haircuts
ROCKLAND — “Every child deserves the chance to start off the school year with confidence,” said Penobscot Bay YMCA, in a news release. “That’s why the Penobscot Bay YMCA is seeking stylists and barbers to volunteer their time and talent to provide free Back-to-School Haircuts to children entering pre-K through 12th grade.”
This event will take place on Sunday, August 27, from 9 - 11 a.m., at the Rockland Harbor YMCA branch, located at 12 Water Street in Rockland. Local families will be able to sign up their students for haircut appointments in advance of the event date.
In addition to coordinating free haircuts, the Y will be collecting school supplies at the Rockport and Rockland branches during the month of August. All students who participate in the Back-to-School Haircut event will take home free supplies, giving kids the tools they need to learn and thrive as they kick off the new school year.
If you would like to volunteer at the Y’s Back-to-School Haircut event, please contact Whitney St. Clair at wstclair@penbayymca.org. For more information, visit www.penbayymca.org or call 207.236.3375.
At the Y, we are for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
