Life Scout Bruce Bossow, Jr., of Boy Scout Troop 254 based in Warren, completed the final stages of his Eagle Scout Project to benefit the Waldoboro Free Clothing Closet. Bossow, who lives in Waldoboro and attends Medomak Valley High School, wanted to find a local nonprofit organization in town who would benefit from an Eagle Scout project. Upon asking around, he learned that the Waldoboro Free Clothing Closet was in need of a shoe display. 

Bossow met with Dr. Emily Trask-Eaton to find out what their needs were and how he could help them. They decided that the closet was in need of two shoe racks to display all the women's shoes that they receive from donations. Bossow then had to write up his proposal, including design plans, materials needed, how he would pay for these items, and have it approved by the Eagle Scout Review board. His proposal was approved on April 17. 

NC Hunt Lumber donated all the materials that were needed to complete this project after Bossow went in and talked to them about his Eagle Scout Project. Bossow, with the help of adult leadership, cut the pieces that would be needed to assemble the shoe rack. With Bossow’s leadership, the scouts in his troop cut, assembled, sanded, primed and installed both shoe racks. Together, Bossow and his fellow scouts delivered and installed the shoe racks to the Waldoboro Free Clothing on July 13. They then filled the shoe racks with all the women's shoes that now have a place to be displayed.

Bossow has earned 34 merit badges, including the 21 Eagle-required badges. This service project is the last phase to earn the rank of Eagle. 

The Waldoboro Free Clothing Closet is located at 124 Friendship Road, the same location as the Waldoboro Food Pantry, and is a nonprofit under the larger umbrella of the Medomak Exchange. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. It is completely volunteer run, relying on donations of both time and items.
