Free CNA training program offered at WCGH
BELFAST — Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH) is offering a free six-week, state approved certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program this summer. CNAs are caregivers who work directly with patients and residents to assist them with their activities of daily living, including their safety and comfort. The program will run July 10 through August 18 on the WCGH campus.
WCGH is one of five MaineHealth hospitals offering this free training in collaboration with Maine Adult Education and the Maine Community College System. Classes are taught by experienced registered nurses and include the state required curriculum of 70 hours of class time, 20 hours of essential skills labs, and 40 hours of clinical training.
Accepted applicants will have the opportunity to be paid while they learn in exchange for a one year work commitment following completion of the course. All candidates must first complete and pass the CASAS reading assessment. Updated immunization records are required upon applying.
