ROCKLAND — The Rockland Public Library invites the community to join in promoting kindness with a countdown to World Kindness Day (November 13.) Come to the library for different activities each day.

RPL suggests the following library-related activities:
 
Monday: Add something you're grateful for to the gratitude wall, located by the checkout desk.  
 
Tuesday:  Wear a kindness button, jewelry, t-shirt or sweatshirt (or a perhaps a cardigan in honor of Mr. Rogers). Visit us at the Library or email us your photo at refdesk@rocklandmaine.gov and we'll take your photo and share it on Facebook .
 
Wednesday: Take a walk and be kind to your community by picking up litter with the Wednesday Walkers at 10:30 AM. (If you haven't walked with the Walkers before, please come early to sign a release form.)
 
Thursday:  Be Kind to yourself. Do something you love today. Come to the library and take a breather – we'll have adult coloring pages out all day.
 
Friday:  The Library is Closed for Veterans Day. Say thank you to a Veteran or write a letter using Operation Gratitude or through another organization (FMI: https://www. operationgratitude.com/ volunteer/anywhere/letters/).
 
Today, we'll also share a kindness quote on Facebook and invite you to reply with your own favorite, which could serve to inspire others.
 
Saturday:  Come to the Library to pick up random acts of kindness ideas and information about local charitable community organizations. 
 
Sunday: Celebrate World Kindness Day wherever you are!
 
World Kindness Day is an international holiday that was formed in 1998, to promote kindness throughout the world and is observed annually on November 13 as part of the World Kindness Movement. It is day devoted to the positive potential of both large and small acts of kindness.
 
Part of the Library’s Kindness Counts Initiative. Please stay tuned for a new activity each month, focused on kindnesses large and small.
