Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition offers several outings this fall
BELFAST — The Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition will host several outings this fall, including nature walks in Belfast and on Sears Island in Searsport.
Fall Foliage Walk on Sears Island with Cloe Chunn on Saturday, October 15. Meet at the end of the causeway near the gate at 10 a.m., and spend about 3 hours walking, with time off for a bag lunch. Bring water, rain gear, and lunch.
Geology Walk on Sunday, November 13 with geologist Brooks McKinney. Meet at Head of Tide Preserve in Belfast for this walk at 10 a.m. The Sunday hike avoids hunters during deer hunting season. Nevertheless, wearing orange clothing is a good idea. Bring water, a snack, a warm layer, and rain gear. The walk will last approximately two hours.
Sunrise Walk on Belfast Beach, Dec. 10. Meet at the Belfast Boathouse at 6 a.m., and carpool to City Park to start this meditative ramble eastward into the sunrise, ending at the Boathouse, a distance of three quarters of a mile. Those wishing to walk back to City Park will total 1.5 mile. Wear warm layers and shoes for the rocky beach.
For more information about these outings, please contact Cloe Chunn at 207-338-1147.
