Camden High School Alumni Association presents Recognition Awards
On Friday August 12, 2022 the Camden High School (CHS) Alumni Association held its 116th Annual Alumni Banquet at the Elks Lodge in Rockland. One of the highlights of the banquet is the annual Alumni
Recognition Awards. Because of COVID, the 2020 and 2021 Alumni Banquets were cancelled which postponed the 2020 and 2021 awards to the 2022 banquet.
The 2020 award was made to University of Maine Associate Professor Dr. Ronald F. Banks, Ph.D., CHS Class of 1952, whose activities, contributions and prominence outside of the Camden Area have brought recognition to the Greater Camden Area.
As shown in the first photo, former Alumni Association President and current Alumni Board member Dave Ames CHS Class of 1963 (second from left) presents the award to the family of Professor Banks. Receiving the award on behalf of the Banks family is Dr. Amy Banks, MD (first person on the left). Other family include left to right: Nancy Banks, Ph.D., Philip Banks, Alex Banks and Judith Jordan.
The 2021 Alumni Recognition Award was made to former Camden Town Manager and former Alumni Association President Roger Moody, CHS Class of 1961, who has made a significant contribution to the CHS Alumni Association as well as to the Greater Camden area, and whose activities, contributions and prominence outside of the Camden Area have brought recognition to the Greater Camden Area.
As shown in the second photo, former Alumni Association President and current Alumni Board member, Diann Henderson, CHS Class of 1963 (left) presents the award to Roger Moody on the right.
Board Member Rodney Lynch, CHS Class of 1963 and Chair of the Alumni Board’s Recognition Nomination Committee acted as the Master of Ceremony for the awards. Other Committee members included: Elaine Alley Davis ‘61, Linda Barker Annis ‘63, Geri Annis O’ Connor ‘61 and Patricia Kelly Ayers ‘50.
The first awards were given out in 2012, and since then there have been 27 recipients.
