Waldo Reads Together: The Devil’s Highway by Luis Alberto Urrea
March 28 to April 29
This year’s program invites community members to join together to read a book that challenges our conceptions of borders, whether literal, historical or psychological, exposing the complexities behind the headlines of immigration debates in our culture. Urrea’s profoundly compelling, compassionate narrative, The Devil’s Highway, draws us deeply into a world that we need to understand. For anyone who has a passion for social justice and a desire to deepen one’s knowledge about the difficult complexities of the U.S. - Mexico border Urrea’s book offers a path towards understanding.
Eight group discussions of the book, led by trained facilitators, will be held March 28 - April 29 and offered as morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. Each discussion group will have two sessions spaced a week apart. Register to indicate 1st and 2nd choice for your discussion time slot preference and Zoom vs. in-person discussion preference.
