WARREN — Surrounded by her loving family, Joyce M. Bean, 87, of Warren, Maine passed away peacefully on March 14, 2022 in Rockport, Maine.

Joyce was born on January 20, 1935 in Rockland, Maine to Robie F. Jackson, Sr. and Lucy Allen Lane Jackson. After her marriage to Arthur Bean, Sr., she took pride in being a stay-at-home mom, lovingly raising her 6 children, until she started her career at Sylvania’s.

Retirement brought hours of joy gardening, reading, birdwatching, and traveling. Family was Joyce’s greatest source of happiness, and she treasured time with her children and grandchildren, eagerly looking forward to their visits. In her later life, she loved reminiscing about her vacations and day trips she had taken with her children. Joyce was a historian and avid genealogy researcher. Her documented research will benefit many future generations of her family.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Bean, Sr., and her son Arthur Bean, Jr.

She is survived by her children Lyn Faller and her husband Bill, Juanita Smalley and her husband Keith, Jeffrey Bean and wife Liz, Melinda Leland, and Valerie Bean; and her grandchildren, Alicia Faller, MD, Rachel Williams, Douglas Williams II, Megan Bean, Matthew Bean, David Leland, and Caleb Leland; and several great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

Her family wishes to express gratitude for the excellent care of Dr. Denise Anderson, Dr. Jennifer Wiley and all of the nurses who cared for her at Pen Bay Medical Center.

At the request of Joyce, a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
