Rosie J. Thomas, obituary
SKOWHEGAN — Rosie Joane Thomas, 82, passed away on February 8, 2022 in Skowhegan, Maine, at Redington Fairview General Hospital with her loving children by her side.
Rosie was born in Rockland, Maine on November 7, 1939 to parents Helen Johnson and Leo Chase. Rosie grew up in Rockland, and attended local schools.
After retiring Rosie moved to Anson, Maine to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Rosie’s first career in life was raising her children, then on to the Wayfarer and Navigator Motels in Rockland where she worked for many years as a housekeeper. Anyone who ever visited Rosie’s house immediately realized that she was indeed a “spotless” housekeeper and that trait remained with her throughout her life.
Rosie enjoyed lawn sales, having visits with her sisters Judy and Sharon and of course going shopping with them. In her younger years she loved to go dancing, entertaining her family and friends, an occasional cocktail and a non-filtered Pall Mall were always at an arms length. Family being most important to her she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Rosie was pre-deceased by her parents; her sisters Judy Harvey, Agnes Gamage, Thelma Williams, Arlene Winslow; her brothers Alton Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Robert “Hank” Johnson, and Ray Johnson. She was also pre-deceased by some very special people in her life who she is now reunited with: Skip Gieseman, Shawn Feyler, Scott Jordan, and Jamey Sanborn.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Royce “Arnie” Butler, Jr. and his companion Karen Rackliff of Thomaston; her daughter, Lisa Sanborn and companion Bruce Patton of Skowhegan; and her niece Judi Prior who she raised as her own from Cushing, Maine; her sister Sharon Wright of Waldoboro, Maine; her beloved grandchildren Alyssa, Laci , Gavin; her pug Zoe, who was her constant 4 legged companion; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and many friends.
Per Rosie’s wishes no formal services will be held but a celebration of her life for her family and friends will be held in the Summer of 2022.
