Harriet L. Williams, obituary
BRUNSWICK — Harriet Williams, 95, passed away peacefully, October 26, 2021 in Brunswick.
Harriet was born on January 5, 1926 in Duluth Minnesota, the daughter of Louis and Agnes Haugen. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1944.
She met Warren, the love of her life, while his ship was docked in Duluth during his time in the navy. Harriet and Warren married on July 5, 1946 and welcomed their daughter Rebecca in 1948 and their daughter Kay in 1955.
Harriet and Warren loved to travel. They spent two years in Cebu in the Philippines as Peace Corp volunteers. They traveled frequently, often to Elderhostel programs and retired to the Island of Matinicus.
Harriet enjoyed being involved with her community and served as a Treasurer when she lived on Matinicus. She was also actively involved with church.
She enjoyed painting, knitting, and baking. Christmas was her favorite holiday.
Harriet is survived by her granddaughter Margaret (Emmie) Wright Carrigan and her husband Ryan Carrigan of Durham, and her great-granddogs Duke and George.
She was predeceased by her husband Warren Williams and her two daughters Kay Williams and Rebecca Wright of Freeport.
Harriet’s family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the exceptional care she received at Horizons Living and Rehab. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Beacon Hospice for the excellent care and support they provided to Harriet.
An hour of visiting will be held Friday November 12, 2021, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter and Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. The Reverend Susan Stonestreet will officiate.
Private interment will be held the Monmouth Ridge Cemetery, Monmouth.
