Megunticook Rowing announces fall rowing programs
ROCKPORT — Megunticook Rowing is excited to announce open registration for fall youth rowing at the varsity and club level.
The Megunticook Rowing varsity team is designed for high school age girls and boys wanting to row at a competitive level, and race in team boats. The team will train on the water, Monday through Friday before school, and will plan to compete in several regattas with other youth rowing programs.
The club rowing program is designed for girls and boys aged 12-18, who are learning to row, or who prefer a more relaxed, noncompetitive, schedule. Practices will be three afternoons each week. The program’s focus is an introduction to rowing, building technique and endurance, and enjoying time on the water. Rowers in this program will not participate in out of town regattas.
Those planning to participate are asked to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 1 at the indoor training space at the Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport. A virtual attendance option is offered for this meeting.
Megunticook Rowing is also excited to announce fall coached rowing for adults at the novice and advanced level. There will be options to row in single shells and team boats. Private lessons are also available.
Once again, Megunticook Rowing will offer free learn-to-row classes at the Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport. Experienced coached will teach the basics of the stroke and introduce participants to the sport of towing. This is a great place to start if you are interested in adding the rowing machine to your workout routine or hope to get on the water later in the season. These sessions are open to all ages. No experience is required.
All Megunticook Rowing programs comply with Maine and US Rowing COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Registration for the aforementioned programs can be completed online by visiting megunticookrowing.org.
