WINTERPORT — A Frankfort man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Stream Road in Winterport, according to a media report from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office. 

Jesse Skillings, 21, who was the sole occupant of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, was pronounced dead at the scene by the personnel of Winterport Ambulance.

According to the report, Skillings was driving westerly around 6:55 p.m. when his vehicle struck a mailbox, before going off the opposite side of the road where his vehicle struck a tree. 

Emergency services that responded to the scene included members of the West Frankfort Fire Department, Winterport Ambulance, and the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office. 

Deputy Anthony Nucolo is the primary investigator assigned to the crash. 

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, though an initial assessment indicates that speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash.
