It got rough out there
The sun came out in a blaze of glory on Saturday, March 9, but not until a gale blew through the coast of Maine and sent all the gloomy, soggy weather of the past week out to sea.
Bob Trapani, who was out photographing the storm, called it a "green fury."
The National Weather Service described it as a "large and intense ocean storm" that buffeted the Midcoast on Friday, producing gale-force winds and big waves that slammed the coastline throughout the day. It was also considered a "very unusual storm" that tracked in the form of a loop well off the coast. Trapani caught some of its intensity with his camera. (See more of his photos at Stormheroes.com.)
By Saturday morning, the winds had calmed and the day dawned clear and crisp, bringing a welcome relief after more than a week of low pressure, spitting snow, and clouds that just wouldn't move.
