Watts Hall Community Players holds auditions for new musical
Calling for brave men, women and children…..Henry Knox wants you to join him onstage!
A brand new musical is finally coming to Midcoast Maine this summer. Watts Hall Community Players had planned to present Count Me In, a musical about General Henry Knox, local Revolutionary War hero, as its summer production way back in 2020, and is excited to finally be bringing it to the stage, according to the Players, in a news release.
The show will be performed in historic Watts Hall, Thomaston, on the last weekend in June and the first weekend in July,
Count Me In is very much an ensemble show with only a small number of leading roles, according to the release. The large, multi-age ensemble is highlighted in 8 of the 10 musical numbers and provides many opportunities for solo singing and significant speaking parts. The show also highlights a classroom full of students, so young people are strongly encouraged to join in, said the Players.
Anyone who would like to be a member of the ensemble and/or the class of history students need only express interest by contacting Daryl Hahn at darylhahn@gmail.com or may attend auditions. For those interested in performing one of 3 leads (Thomas Jefferson, George Washington or a modern day teacher) auditions will be Friday, April 1, from 6 - 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 2, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Rehearsals will be held in Thomaston and begin in early May.
