Waldo County Sheriff’s beat: Slippery roads and OUIs
BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity Dec. 20 – Jan. 6. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
Dec. 18 (late entry)
Deputy Jordan Tozier responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Route 139 in Monroe where the driver was travelling too fast for the snowy roads and lost control. The vehicle then travelled down an embankment, striking two trees. The vehicle was towed. There were no injuries.
Dec. 20
Rachel Poore, 39, of Belfast, was arrested for aggravated furnishing of Schedule Z drugs and violating probation.
Timothy J. Hanscom, 32, of Swanville, was arrested for violating conditions of release.
Dec. 22
Deputy Kevin Littlefield responded to a single-vehicle accident on Route 3 where the operator lost control on icy roads and started to spin. The vehicle then went off the road back-end first and down an embankment, coming to rest on its side against a tree. It was determined the driver was travelling too fast for the conditions. The vehicle was towed. There were no injuries.
Dec. 23
Deputy James Porter responded to a single vehicle accident on Route 1 in Northport where the driver lost control due to slippery roads, leaving the roadway and striking a mailbox. It was determined the driver was travelling too fast for the conditions and overcorrected. The vehicle sustained minor damage.
Dec. 25
Dylan Siber, 18, of Prospect, was issued a summons for operating after suspension.
Kristle M. Gross, 29, of Orland, was arrested for violating conditions of release. Gross was also issued summonses for criminal mischief, operating after suspension and refusing to submit to arrest or detention.
Dec. 26
John E. Izaijs, 42, of Islesboro, was issued a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance.
Dec. 28
Deputy Kevin Littlefield responded to a deer versus car accident on Poors Mill Road in Morrill. The car was towed due to damage. There were no injuries.
Jan. 1
Kristopher M. Gilbert, 27, of Frankfort, was arrested for domestic violence criminal mischief and violating conditions of release.
Deputy Jordan Tozier responded to a single-vehicle accident on Route 220 in Montville, where the operator, an EMS worker, was responding to an emergency in a personal vehicle and lost control of the vehicle on icy roads. The vehicle exited the roadway and flipped onto its side after hitting a snow embankment. The vehicle was towed. There were no injuries.
David Bardsley, 28, of Brooks, was arrested for violating conditions of release.
Jan. 2
Seamus L. Kiernan, 33, of Belfast, was issued a summons for possession of a useable amount of marijuana.
Joshua Gray, 24, of Swanville, was arrested for operating after suspension, possession of a useable amount of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.
Janden Doherty, 21, of Swanville, was arrested for failure to appear.
Deputy Jordan Tozier responded to a single vehicle accident on Waldo Station Road in Waldo where the operator lost traction when cresting a hill and lost control, exiting the roadway and flipping onto its roof after hitting a snow embankment. It was determined the operator was travelling too fast for the conditions. The vehicle was towed. The operator suffered injuries.
Debbie J. Broadley, 53, of Stockton Springs, was arrested for operating under the influence on Lighthouse Road in Stockton Springs.
Deputy Jordan Tozier responded to a two-vehicle accident on Waterville Road in Waldo where one vehicle slowed for a turning vehicle and the car travelling behind it was unable to stop due to icy roads, resulting in a rear-end collision. It was determined the following vehicle was travelling too fast for the conditions. Both cars were towed. The driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended suffered possible injuries.
Jan. 3
William Meier, 49, of Unity, was issued summonses for imprudent speed and changing the course of travel when unsafe on Route 137 in Unity.
Mitchell D. Goldman, 58, of Liberty, was arrested for domestic violence terrorizing.
Jan. 6
Kevin Wood, 27, of Brooks, was issued a summons for operating after suspension on Waterville Road in Waldo.
