Waldo County Sheriff’s beat: Car-deer accidents, a rear-end accident and a false plate violation
BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity March 24-31. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
March 24
Deputy Cassandra McDonald responded to the scene of an accident on Route 100 in Burnham, involving a 1999 Nissan and a deer. The driver was uninjured.
March 27
Deputy Daniel Thompson responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on School Street in Unity. The operator of a 2006 Chrysler was following too closely to the 2002 Buick traveling ahead of it. The operator of the Buick stopped abruptly, resulting in the operator of the Chrysler rear-ending the vehicle. The passenger of the Chrysler received possible injuries, both drivers were uninjured.
March 28
Deputy Darrin Moody responded to the scene of a single vehicle accident on Harriman Road in Swanville. The operator of a 2007 Chevy was reportedly exceeding the speed limit when a deer ran into the road. The operator told Moody they swerved to avoid the deer and subsequently lost control of the vehicle, which traveled sideways across the center line and came to rest in a ditch. The driver was uninjured and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Thompson responded to the scene of an accident on Moosehead Trail in Jackson involving a 2005 Chevy pickup and a deer. The driver was uninjured.
Matthew B. McIver, 29, of Thorndike, was issued summonses for attaching false plates and violating conditions of release on Files Hill Road in Thorndike.
March 30
Brandon Porter, 21, of Swanville, was arrested for failure to pay fines.
March 31
Anthony M. Miles, 31, of Winterport, was issued a summons for an inspection sticker violation on Loggin Road in Frankfort.
