The Poets Corner first reading of the new year: Poems for healing
The Poets Corner will engage in conversation with Ellen Goldsmith, of Cushing, and Lynne Ellis, of Seattle, Washington, about the role of reading and writing poetry as part of the healing process. They will each share a poem they have found resonant and healing from another poet and talk about their personal experience writing poetry, welcoming comments and questions from the audience on this Zoom reading, Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, from 4 - 5:30 p.m.
Ellen Goldsmith will read from her recently published collection: Left Foot, Right Foot. In this new work, Goldsmith deals with a life-threatening illness and her journey of healing. One of her previous books, No Pine Tree in this Forest is Perfect, won the 1997 Slapering Hol Press Chapbook Competition, and her poems have appeared in many journals and anthologies.
Lynne Ellis, a prize-winning poet from the west coast, will also read poems that encounter subjects of body and healing. Ellis’ poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Poetry Northwest, the Missouri Review, Sugar House Review, Red Wheelbarrow (2018 Poetry Prize), The Shore, and elsewhere.
Join The Poets Corner to listen to these poets read their work, and the work of other poets, on the topic of Poems for Healing.
