Margaret Tilley, obituary
ROCKVILLE – Margaret Tilley, 82, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 with her daughter Jayne close by her side, whom she has lived with since June, 2021.
Born in Rockland, March 30, 1939 she was the daughter of Arthur “Lew” and Christina Fish and one of nine children. She attended schools in Rockland. Following high school, Margaret married Aubrey Tilley, they had three wonderful children. Margaret was a devoted wife and the best mother anyone could ever ask for, always being there by her children and loving them unconditionally.
Margaret enjoyed working and loved the people that she worked with. For over 30 years she worked as a Production Manager at the Courier Gazette, a place that felt like home to her. Everyone was treated like family and every position mattered. Beyond work Margaret enjoyed baking for others and even more enjoyed eating ice cream and the cookies she had baked. She was best known for her famous molasses cookies, which she cooked by the hundreds. One of the most cherished times of the year for she and her family was spending Christmas Eve together. Most of all, Margaret was a caring and honest person with admirable strength. While her children were growing up, each one of them felt confident going to their mother for advice because they knew she wouldn’t judge them, even their friends would look to Margaret for guidance.
Other than her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband Aubrey; her two sons, James and Jeff; her brothers, Erkie, Stan, and Russell and a sister Dot. She is survived by her daughter Jayne Tilley and her husband Ray; her daughter-in-law Pamela and her children, Jessica and Michael Clark and his wife Becca; a great-grandchild Ferris Clark; brothers Donnie, Arthur and his wife Kris, Leslie and his wife Krissy; sister Agnes and her husband Bob; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; as well as Gail Thompson whom she had a special bond with and thought of as family.
No services are scheduled at this time, but the family will have a cookout at her home in Rockport next summer for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Hospital at 450 Brookline Ave., SW120, Boston, MA 02215.
