Maine State Police investigate Waldoboro teen death
On Thursday, July 27, at approximately 1:06 p.m., the Waldoboro Police Department requested the assistance of Major Crimes Unit Central for a reported 13-year-old male who suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a home on Wagner Bridge Road in Waldoboro, according to a news release from the Maine Dept. of Public Safety.
The juvenile male was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial investigation reveals the incident happened in front of two witnesses, both friends of the victim. Major Crimes Unit Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
The Maine State Police criminal investigation division (MCU) is responsible for major investigations including homicides, suspicious deaths and child abuse cases. MCU investigates all homicides in Maine, except in Portland and Bangor.
