Learn about life-saving Narcan at Blue Hill Fair 2024
BLUE HILL — Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital, in collaboration with Opiate Free Island Partnership (OFIP) and AMHC, will educate and train this year’s fair goers how to administer Narcan. For the last two years, these organizations have distributed thousands of doses of lifesaving Narcan to its communities. Fair Dates: August 29 - September 2, 2024
“For the first time since the start of the pandemic, Maine has seen a decrease in opioid overdose deaths,” said Ashley Pesek, LCSW and program director for OFIP, in a news release. “With 607 Mainer's still dying from overdose in 2023, we aren't done yet. Help OFIP continue to fight this battle; dead people can't recover.”
Narcan will be available on Thursday, the opening evening of the fair, and then from 2pm until close each day. Information, education, training…and Narcan are all FREE.
Stop by the “Narcan Saves Lives” table near the midway.
“We are happy to sponsor the Blue Hill Fair – and proud that we use the opportunity to help combat opioid-misuse, addiction, and overdose,” said Kelley Columber, director of communications for Northern Light Blue Hill and Maine Coast Hospitals. “We value the expertise and tireless work that our community partners have dedicated to this important issue. We know that Narcan saves lives!”
