K9 Lucy joins Knox County Sheriff’s Office
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office introduces its new K9 team, Deputy Chris Taylor and K9 Lucy. Lucy is a 12 week old golden retriever, who was donated to the Sheriff’s Office by a local resident.
Lucy and her handler, Deputy Taylor, will be training to become certified in tracking, according to the KCSO, in a news release. In addition to article tracking, they will be aiding in searches for individuals who may have become lost. The team will also be used for searching and tracking suspects who may have fled a crime scene.
Deputy Taylor has been with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office since September of 2019. He and K9 Lucy have been making their rounds in the community, and the response has been very positive.
“If you see them out and about, please take the opportunity to say hello. She loves meeting new people,” said KCSO, in a news release. “We are confident she will quickly become an invaluable member of our agency.”
