BELFAST — A Belfast woman was sentenced to spend 45 days in jail in Waldo County Unified Court Sept. 12, as a result of an ill-fated trip to Belfast’s Dairy Queen drive-thru.

Christy Neumann, 43, was charged with operating under the influence, endangering the welfare of a child, and violating conditions of release following the Aug. 19, 2016, incident.

Neumann was convicted of all three charges and ordered to spend 45 days in jail for each count, to be served concurrently. In addition to 45 days in jail, the charge of operating under the influence resulted in the suspension of Neumann’s license for 150 days and a $500 fine.

A Dairy Queen employee contacted Belfast Police after becoming suspicious when Neumann attempted to order her children Happy Meals while in the drive-thru, according to Sergeant Matthew Cook.

When she was made aware of her mistake, Neumann reportedly argued with the staff, insisting she was at McDonald’s and “was going to get her kids a happy meal,” Cook said at the time.

Employees were able to stall the delivery of her order until officers arrived on scene.

After failing a field sobriety test, Neumann reportedly refused any additional tests and was arrested.

Neumann is expected to begin her sentence Sept. 29.
