Holly Smith to paint during Camden Garden Tour
For the third consecutive year, the Camden Garden Club’s House and Garden Tour will feature a plein air artist. This year, Holly Smith of Rockport will paint at one of the tour locations during the July 21 event. Tour participants may purchase raffle tickets to win this remembrance of their experience. The proceeds will benefit the Club’s Scholarship Fund.
As a Maine native, Smith has always found inspiration in the ever–changing beauty and moods of her surroundings. She strives to show others the meaningful, healing tranquility that the Maine landscape offers through colors, shapes, and compositional relationships. She frequently takes the opportunity to experience her locale by traveling to remote island destinations or exploring scenic areas around her home.
Smith’s artwork is in numerous public and private collections, including the First National Bancorp and The Samoset Resort. She has exhibited in numerous shows and galleries through the years and is currently represented by the Portland Art Gallery and the Lincolnville Fine Art Gallery.
The Club’s Scholarship Fund benefits local high school students who wish to pursue higher education in the fields of horticulture or environmental science and also supports scholarships to the Tanglewood 4-H Camp.
The House and Garden Tour will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Four private homes and gardens, as well as guided tours of the Conway House and the Camden Public Library’s amphitheater and Harbor Park, are included in the tour. Members of the Mid Coast Sports Car Club will display their prized vehicles at the tour stops.
Tickets are $40 and are available at various retail locations in Belfast, Camden and Rockport, and online at camdengardenclub.org. Tickets are also available for purchase on July 21 at Tour Headquarters at the Camden Public Landing, or at any private home on the tour.
