Gene E. Freeman, obituary
ROCKLAND — Gene E. Freeman, 83, passed away October 28, 2021, in the loving arms of his best friend and loving wife of 31 years, Dodie.
Born in Rockland, March 12, 1938, he was the son of Francis and Grace Mank Freeman. He attended local schools.
Gene worked as a commercial fisherman until his retirement due to health issues. In his younger years, he worked as a cook in local restaurants and aboard commercial fishing vessels.
Dodie fondly spoke of Gene as having the biggest, kindest hands and a heart full of love.
He was a long-time member of the Salvage Church in Rockland.
Other than his parents, Gene was predeceased by two sisters, Judith Freeman and Frances Crossitti; and a step-son, Glenn Renchen.
He is survived by his wife, Dodie of Rockland; two sisters, Diane Wooster of Rockland, and Brenda (Linwood) Olsen of Friendship; two sons, Conrad Freeman of Rockland, and John (Anne) Freeman of Sanford; several grand and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Gene’s request, no public services will be held.
Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
