Gary Slade Keating, obituary
Gary Slade Keating, age 56, died following a brief illness on August 3, 2022 at home with his loving wife and son by his side.
Born September 1 of 1965 in Rockland, he was the son of Donald and Olive Keating. Gary is the middle child with his two brothers Donald and Lary. He graduated from Rockland District High School in 1983. Growing up he traveled with his family and loved hunting.
When he was young his grandmother Eva introduced him to candlepin bowling and his love for the sport took off! Bowling was his favorite pastime. You would always find him on a league with his bowling brothers: Jason, Eric, Ray and Ron at Oakland Park Lanes in Rockport, Maine.
When Gary's children were younger you would always find him on the sideline at any of their sporting games cheering them on. They spent many summers and weekends camping at Micmac Campground or swimming in any one of their favorite local swimming holes. You could also find him riding his bike around Thomaston looking for treasures to collect.
Predeceased by his parents, Donald and Olive Keating; his older brother Donald Keating; his father in-law, Donald Demmons; and his beloved pet Jojo.
Gary is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Karen Keating, and his 5 children – his sons, Wayne, Adam and Jason; his daughters, Jessica and Jennifer; his sons-in-laws Christopher and Alex; his mother-in-law, Patricia Demmons; his aunts, Nancy and Paula, who was his dear friend; his grandchildren, Kylie, Gwen, Penelope and Gunther; his brother, Lary and his wife; and his many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held with close family and friends at a private service.
