Florence K. Eaton, obituary
CAMDEN — Florence K. Eaton, 79, beloved wife of William “Bill” Eaton, died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family, Thursday, December 9, 2021 following a long courageous battle with diabetes.
Born in Camden, January 26, 1942, she was the daughter of Charles, Sr. and Thelma Dailey Chapin. She was educated locally and was a 1960 graduate of Camden High School. Following graduation, Florence married William K. Eaton at the Camden Methodist Church on April 19, 1963.
Early in her career, Mrs. Eaton was employed for several years at Marriner’s Restaurant in Camden and later at Tibbetts Industries. Later she assisted her husband as Office Manager of Seacoast Plumbing, and also worked
briefly at Camden National Bank.
Other than her primary vocation of wife, mother and homemaker, Florence found great fulfillment in her hospitality work. Together with her husband she owned and operated the Sea View Motel. Even after selling the motel, she continued her work helping other fulfill their vacation dreams, owning the Yankee Travel Service.
She enjoyed camping with her family for many years at Saltwater Campground in Cushing. She also kept busy as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Seaside Chapter, as well as the Penobscot View Grange and Dandelions Lady Lions Club in Camden.
Predeceased by her parents and her brother, Charles Chapin, Jr.; Mrs. Eaton is survived by her husband, William Eaton, of Camden; her sons, Michael Eaton and his wife Wendy of Hope, Mathew Eaton and his wife Erin of Orrington; her grandchildren, Elizabeth and Adam of Hope; a sister, Katherine Littlefield of Waldo; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be announced in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, Camp Carefree New Hampshire, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
