Five Town Adult Ed 2023 spring semester begins Feb. 27
ROCKPORT — “Be a lifelong learner with adult ed!” said Five Towns, in a news release.
The new 2023 semester of classes begins with several new courses:
Knitting Open Studio on March 1 is for anyone who has an unfinished project or needs knitting help. Class is offered by knitting teacher Tina Casteris from 6-8 PM and will have a second session on April 4.
Acting – Fantasy to Reality is a 7-week course with Joseph Coté, professional actor, where students will have the fun of reading and performing together using a variety of plays. The class begins on March 1 and meets from 6-8 PM.
Astronomy 101 is another one-night class, offered by local amateur astronomer Jim DellaPenna, where Jim will cover centuries of astronomical history and knowledge from 6:30-8:30 PM. Class is offered on March 2 and a second time on March 16.
Basic Bridge – Take the Next Steps, with Lance Bukoff, is for students of the game who are a beyond the basic level. Class meets for 7 weeks beginning March 2, at 4-6:30 PM.
Film Photography has now added the option to borrow a film camera to use for the class, so don’t let the lack of a camera stop you from taking this fascinating and creative class. The 5-week course, taught by film fan Jason Philbrook, begins on March 2, meeting from 6-8 PM.
Many more new classes are featured throughout the semester, which runs through the end of July. Later new classes include Chasing Birds Across Maine series; Easy Bluegrass Jamming; Where Are All the Aliens?; Gardening for Beginners; Cooking Chinese Dessert; Carving the Swimming Puffin; Create a Maine Icon Patch (lighthouse or schooner); Easy Fiddle Jam; Basic Home Improvement; 100 Best Writing Contests; Sewing Camp for Kids; and two different Acadian Arts retreats at Searsport Shores, one for watercolor and one for Asian Fusion Cooking.

All these new classes are held at Camden Hills Regional High School on Rt. 90 in Rockport, but many online and Zoom classes are also offered.
