Exhibit by digital artist Joan Proudman at Rockport library
ROCKPORT — From August 2 through 29, the Rockport Public Library’s Marine Room will be filled with whimsical and mysterious fine art prints by Joan Proudman. Proudman combines photographic imagery with digital illustration to achieve seamless compositions — with an aim to “delight and inspire.”
“My work is about my inner feelings expressed through symbol and metaphor,” says Proudman, in an RPL news release.
She uses her own photos as well as copyright-free images from the public domain as material for her compositions.
“I edit each image manually and the work as a whole,” said Proudman. “A Wacom digital pen, tablet, 22" iMac and Photoshop software are used to cut, paste, blend, filter and enhance multiple layers. I do not create with AI.”
Joan Proudman lives in Freedom. Prior to receiving a degree in art, she enjoyed a career in dance and theater. Her art has been printed on book and CD covers, in manuals, magazines and online journals. Her image entitled “Rite of Passage” won Special Mention in Mozaik Philanthropy’s National Art Competition (2020). Proudman's images were also featured in Shadow and Light Magazine’s Surreal Issue, (2021) and appeared on the cover of Maine Arts Journal (2019).
