Edith O. Daniels, obituary
THOMASTON — Edith O. Daniels, 95, died peacefully at home, with her son, Larry, and family at her side, Friday, November 12, 2021.
Born in Union, she was the daughter of William Gardner and Alice Southworth Leach Daniels. As a young girl she attended schools in St. George and Tenants Harbor.
Edith was a hard worker and worked as a housekeeper at the hotel on Mohegan Island, as a nanny and made a career as a waitress/hostess at Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant in St. Clair, Michigan. She retired and returned to Maine and has resided in Thomaston ever since.
Her family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to her good friend Jean Klingerler of Fort Gratiot, Michigan; her long time caregiver, Nancy Harris of Cushing. Also special thanks to her niece Melodey Weaver and her partner James Crochere of Thomaston, and to her niece Regina Robinson of Thomaston, who made it possible for Edith to stay in her beloved home.
Predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Elmer Daniels formerly of Union, Arthur Daniels formerly of Connecticut, Laura Lotheridge and her husband Clifford formerly of Bowdoinham, and Marguerite Olson and her husband Donald formerly of Verona, Illinois; a brother-in-law Bernard Raynes formerly of Owls Head; Edith is survived by her son, Larry Irving Daniels and his partner Tina Murray of Ledyard, Connecticut; her two sisters, Eleanor Raynes of Owls Head, Catherine Daniels of Warren; two grandsons, Steven Daniels and his partner Jaymie Allen of Groton, Connecticut, Jeffrey Daniels and his wife Lisa of Waterford, Connecticut; four great-grandchildren, Amanda, Taylor, Jesse and Chad of Connecticut; and two great-great-grandchildren, Braxton and Blake of Connecticut; as well as many nieces, nephews and a large loving extended family.
Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
