Dentists with a heart, a wonderful service to the community
ROCKLAND — Oral health has a significant impact on a person's overall health, self-confidence, and employability, and yet many people in our community have little or no insurance to pay for dental care. Thanks to many volunteer dentists working with the Knox County Dental Program, 20 patients received much needed dental services. These procedures relieve patients from extreme pain and infection, improve their nutrition, and cosmetically enhance their job opportunities, significantly impacting their overall health and ability to work.
During the first quarter of this year, volunteer dentists and their staff provided restorative care, extractions, and denture services to 20 Knox County Dental Program patients. Participating dentists in Dentists with a Heart included; Dr. Kingsley, Dr. Pier, Dr. R. Laliberte, Dr., Dr. Goss, Dr. Giannos, and Dr. Theriault. Together they donated several thousand dollars worth of dental care!
Participating offices cared for patients in severe need of dental care, and in many cases, their entire staff volunteered to make it happen. Local baker, Gail Kenney of Rockland, helped the Knox County Health Clinic say thank you by providing cupcakes for each of the dental offices. Many thanks to all who were involved in this day, and to the many who volunteer throughout the year.
The Knox County Health Clinic is a volunteer-based non-profit, offering low-cost medical, dental, prescription assistance, and short-term counseling services to the uninsured and under-insured in our community.
