BELFAST — Dana Lorenzo Skinner passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2021, with family by his side.

Dana was the son of Lorenzo Skinner and Beatrice (Tilley) Skinner born on March 27, 1929, in Ashland, Maine.

Dana was raised in River John, Nova Scotia and “the County” before marrying his beloved wife of 66 years, Helen (Hews) Skinner. They purchased a farm in Belfast, Maine, where they raised their children. He also kept various animals and raised an estimated total of 8 million broiler chickens for Penobscot Poultry Company, even serving as a member of the State Poultry Federation Board. He spent 30 years as a longshoreman, working "in the hole" all the way to head cargo checker. When poultry pulled out of the state, he studied and applied for his license as a Real Estate Broker, where he helped people find their homes for 35 years.

After obtaining a position as an auto salesman in Bangor, Dana moved Helen to Hampden, Maine, where he enjoyed serving on the Hampden Town Council and Board of Directors for the Hampden Water District. He also was honored with a Key to the Town Of Hampden pin, became a member of Kiwanis, and served on the State Board of Manufactured Housing.

Dana was a Veteran of the United States Army, where he served during the Korean War. He was able to attend a weekend in Washington DC with Honor Flight Maine, viewing Memorials for our fallen Veterans. Dana also served God’s church in faithful membership as a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, and in other positions as needed. He was a member of the Gideon's International and Evangelical Association for men whose primary focus is to provide free Bibles and New Testaments around the world in over 108 languages. Dana was a man of incredible faith; he was kind-hearted, cared for others, and worked hard to provide for his family physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Dana is survived by his wife, Hele; his brother, Bert Skinner of Belfast, Maine; his 3 children, Michael Skinner of Essex Junction, Vermont, Cheryl and Eric LeBlanc of Searsport, Maine, and Carol and Linwood Knowlton of Swanville, Maine.

He was a great Pampie to 6 grandchildren: Jennifer and Hao Lieu, Linsey and Tim Herrick, Leah Skinner, Dayna-Mae and Kameron Dow, Theo LeBlanc and fiancée Lisa, and Chase Skinner. Finally, 6 great-grandchildren, Esther and Jude, Colton and Leighton, Odin, and Brayden.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
