The Craignair Inn by the Sea and Causeway Restaurant has received the Leadership and Growth Award from the Maine Office of Tourism. Recipients of the 2024 Maine Tourism Awards were announced during the Governor’s Conference on Tourism held in Portland, Maine, on April 25, 2024.

The annual awards recognize individuals, businesses and organizations that have distinguished themselves within the industry and made a significant contribution to the growth of tourism in Maine.

“Innkeepers Greg and Lauren Soutiea are humbled to be recognized for their community-minded and environmentally-aligned efforts,” said The Craignair, in a news release. “Mindful of their carbon footprint, they expand the inn and grow their brand with care and attention to details such as solar panels and electric vehicles. They support their staff, donate monthly to local nonprofits, and encourage professional development.”

“The owners of the Craignair Inn by the Sea are leaders in hospitality on many fronts,” said Steve Lyons, Director, Maine Office of Tourism. “From their energy-efficient building upgrades to their restaurant expansion and commitment to being open year-round, they have consistently taken steps that support local jobs and elevate the appeal of their region for visitors.”

Other entities recognized this year include Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Oriental Jade, Appalachian Mountain Club Maine Woods Initiative, and Wayne Davis, of TrainRiders NorthEast. In 2023, the Leadership and Growth Award went to Husson University College of Business, School of Hospitality, Sport, and Tourism Management.

The Craignair Inn has also won 2023’s Best of Maine Bed and Breakfast; 2022 Small Business of the Year; 2022 Innkeepers of the Year.
