Cash for Clothes registration
CAMDEN — The semiannual Cash for Clothes Sale to benefit Coastal Opportunities will be held Saturday, May 21 through Monday, May 23, at the American Legion Hall on Pearl Street.
The Cash for Clothes Sale is the major community fundraising event to benefit Coastal Opportunities, an agency that assists adults with intellectual disabilities to become participating members in the social and economic community.
This spring, two area businesses have come forward to co-sponsor the sale. Camden National Bank and Allen Insurance and Financial will be underwriting a significant portion of the operating costs associated with staging the Cash for Clothes spring sale. "We are extremely grateful to Camden National Bank and Allen Insurance and Financial for providing these sponsorships, as their financial support will allow our committee to donate more of the sale's proceeds to Coastal Opportunities," said Joe Curll, the agency's executive director in a news release.
If you wish to sell clothing at the sale, you must pre-register. Clothing will be sold on a 50/50 basis, with half of the profit going to the seller, and half going to Coastal Opportunities. When selecting clothing to sell, remember that only good quality spring & summer clothing will be accepted for this sale. You will register your name and address, be given identification tags, lists for clothing, and instruction sheets. If you can't come yourself to pre-registration, a friend can do it for you. Do not bring your sale clothing to pre-registration unless you wish to donate clothes to the sale.
Cash for Clothes has planned two weekends for pre-registration, which will be held at Coastal Opportunities Corcoran Center, located at 35 Limerock Street. If you want to sell clothing at the sale, you may pre-register on Friday, May 6, from 4-6 p.m., or on Saturday, May 7, from 9-11 a.m. Pre-registration will also be held on Friday, May 13, from 4-6 p.m., and on Saturday, May 14, from 9-11 a.m. Cash for Clothes has always been proud to offer good clothing at bargain prices, so we cannot accept garments that are torn, stained, or out of season.
Clothing items from any season will happily be accepted as sale donations at any time during the year at Coastal Opportunities' Corcoran Center, 35 Limerock Street, Camden. If you wish to donate the entire proceeds from the sale of your clothing to Coastal Opportunities, you do not need to pre-register. Simply take your clothing to Coastal Opportunities any time before the Sale. Volunteers will tag and price the clothing for you.
Cash for Clothes enthusiastically welcomes new volunteers to work on various aspects of the sale. Times are available both prior to and during the sale. This is a wonderful way to contribute to the community, help clients of Coastal Opportunities, and meet new people. Volunteers who work four or more hours qualify to attend the Cash for Clothes Pre-Sale. If you wish to volunteer or have questions about joining the volunteer staff, please call Nancy Wolfertz at 594-542
