Carol J. Simmons, obituary
ROCKLAND — Carol J. Simmons, 61, died peacefully in her sleep, Thursday, November 4, 2021 just one day after her 61th birthday.
Born in Rockland, November 3, 1960, she was the daughter of Eugene, Sr. and Gertrude Cooper Harrington. Carol was educated locally, and attended Friendship Schools and Medomak Valley High School.
As a young woman she worked for several years on a lobster fishing boat out of Friendship. Later she went on to work at Northend Composites and Crowe Rope.
Carol was known as a jokester and prankster. If she wasn’t playing a joke on someone, she was putting others up to the task. She was known as the ‘fun aunt’ to all the cousins who were lucky enough to stay the weekend with her. She could often be found playing games on her phone or shopping online. If you couldn’t find her, just listening for the loud country music would lead you in the right direction. Later in life, when verbal communication was difficult for her, she stayed connected to her many friends and family members through Facebook. Her sense of humor and “rounds of applause” will be missed by many.
Predeceased by her parents; Carol is survived by her children, Brandy Simmons and her fiancé Aaron Creamer, Dachery Harrington and her companion Zachary Titus all of Rockland, Herbert Simmons, Jr. of Friendship; her siblings, Eugene Harrington, Jr., Jacqueline Philbrook, Lynn Libby, Lisa Gray, Stewart Harrington and Renita Merrit; four grandchildren, Drew Paulsen, Danielle Weaver, Nicole Paulsen, Jake Paulsen; and one great-granddaughter, Scarlet Philbrook; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
