Broadreach Family & Community Services classroom children run AMOK and donate to food cupboards
BELFAST — As part of the a global kindness event, Random Acts Annual Melee of Kindness, the children, and staff of Broadreach Family & Community Services Early Childhood Education programs have been actively gathering non-perishable foodstuffs for local food cupboards. For the past two weeks, the preschoolers have brought in canned and packaged foods to help others in their communities.
Beginning on Saturday, March 5, Victoria Nickerson, Early Childhood Education, and Development assistant, who has spearheaded and coordinated the food drive with the help of the organization's Early Childhood Education staff, began delivering the canned goods collected from all of Broadreach's classrooms to the following food cupboards in the area:
Greater Belfast Ministerial Food Cupboard, AMVETS Memorial Post 150 Food Pantry in Liberty,
Volunteer Regional Food Pantry in Unity, and the No Greater Love Food Pantry in Searsmont.
AMOK stands for the Annual Melee of Kindness. It is a global day of kindness. AMOK encourages people to go out into their local communities and perform kind acts for those in need. The concept is to spend the day having a positive and meaningful impact on people's lives.
