The Boneheads on stage January 31
They call themselves The Boneheads.
By their own admission they are hard to classify and sometimes even harder to pin down. But, on Friday, Jan. 31, four of Maine’s favorite musicians return to the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor for a night of music, dancing and fun that is guaranteed to chase away the winter blues. They will be joined on stage by the Boothbay region’s famed Holy Mackerels.
Their music has been described as “dance-able, rootsy, folk, rock, blues, country and Cajun and All-American.” For more than 20 years The Boneheads have been playing their brand of music to audiences throughout Maine and the northeast, as well as throughout the country.
They have shared the stage and toured with the likes of Rosanne Cash, The Band and Bo Diddley, and are often compared to Van Morrison, Little Feat, NRBQ, The Band and their touring partners, The Subdudes. Band members include Bob Colwell, Steve Jones, Scott Elliot and Dick Hollis. Special guest Paul Mellyn will also be joining the group on stage for this midwinter musical bash.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 if purchased on the day of the concert. The Opera House box office is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 86 Townsend Avenue or by calling 207-633-5159.
The historic upstairs barroom will open at 7 p.m. on the night of show, with doors to the main performance hall opening at 7:30 p.m.
The music starts at 8 p.m. A reasonably priced night out with a bunch of Boneheads, what more could one ask for?
