Madison Shorey, daughter of Sam and Belinda Shorey, has won a Coca-Cola Scholarship, according to Belfast Area High School, in a news release.

Madison was one of 150 students selected from a pool of 68,000+ applicants from across the country.

“Winners not only exemplify superior leadership, service and academics, they are change agents, positively affecting others in their communities,” said the release.

“In addition to receiving $20,000 college scholarships, students selected will be welcomed into a vibrant and growing Coke Scholars family that has become a powerful force for positive change in the world,” the release said. “Through networking, collaborations, and friendships, the group strives to make a greater impact together.”

Madison is planning to continue her education at Converse University in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
