Appleton Girl Scout Troop 2002 kicks off Girl Scout week
APPLETON — On March 5, Girl Scout Troop 2002 kicked off Girl Scout Week—March 6-12, 2016—with a visit from Appleton Selectman Scott Wiley. Selectman Wiley read and signed a proclamation applauding the commitment Girl Scouting has made to America's girls and to proclaim this week as Girl Scout Week.
During the week, Girl Scouts nationwide celebrate scouting in a multitude of ways, including the birthday of Girl Scouts on March 12, which commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization's first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia. This year, 2016, represents our 104th birthday!
Girl Scouts of Maine provides services and support to over 16,000 girl and adult members statewide and builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. For information on Girl Scouts or to volunteer, call 1-888-922-4763 or visit girlscoutsofmaine.org.
