Amanda L. Medford, obituary
ROCKLAND — Amanda Louise Medford, 33, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
Born August 25, 1988 in Rockport to Henry E. and Donna J. (Blair) Medford III, she was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Medomak Valley High School, Class of 2006.
Amanda was a very funny and artistic person whose comedic nature was unmatched, even when faced with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) 11 years ago. In spite of the difficulties presented by MS she maintained her sense of humor, her love for art, and even earned her black belt in Karate.
It was Amanda’s artistic side that provided her much enjoyment in life. She loved to draw and once when she was younger, won second place in a contest sponsored by Bath Iron Works. She would use the prize money to buy a willow tree to plant at her parents’ home.
For a time, Amanda worked as a deli clerk at stores in Tenants Harbor, St. George, and most recently Hannaford’s Supermarket. It was at Hannaford’s she met and fell in love with her boyfriend of 12 years, Edward Jacobs.
It was no secret that Amanda lived her life on her own terms and could be very stubborn, but she did enjoy being around friends, and above all, was a very good person, daughter, and sister.
Amanda is survived by her parents, Henry and Donna Medford, her sister Meghan Medford, all of Hope; her nephews Joseph Medford, and Henry Sanborn; her boyfriend, Edward Jacobs of Rockland; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
At this time there will be no services. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at a later date and will be announced.
Her family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Amanda’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater New England Chapter, 101A First Ave. Waltham, MA 02451.
