November 2019 Elections and ballots articles
Voters went to the polls Nov. 5, 2019 to consider two state ballot proposals, several municipal amendments, and if they live in Belfast or Rockland, a roster of city councilors candidates.
The turnout was larger in most towns than expected, that prompted elections wardens to wonder if the electorate is trending toward more engagement with government and politics.
Thank you, Samantha Paradis
At the recent Candidate Panel Discussion in Belfast on Oct. 22, it seemed like three of the candidates, Ridgley Fuller being the only exception, blame Samantha Paradis, the current Mayor of Belfast, for all the of the local incivility we would all like to see change. Wow. And she wasn't even there to defend herself!
We may not have agreed with everything Samantha said, but we definitely defend her right to say it. And we appreciate all of the time and energy she gave to Belfast,… Read more
Ridgely Fuller belongs on Belfast City Council
We are happy to be supporting Ridgely Fuller in her quest to serve the City of Belfast as a city councillor, representing ward 3, for several reasons.
First, Ridgely has genuine concern for the well being of our city and everyone in it. As a lifelong social worker, teacher and activist, she has been dedicated to identifying the needs and concerns of our community, and worked passionately to find appropriate, meaningful solutions in a friendly and reasonable manner.

Why I am voting for Brenda Bonneville for Councilor of Belfast Ward Three
The upcoming election for mayor of Belfast, Councilor for Ward Three, and Councilor for Ward will determine the city’s direction for the next two years. Two of the positions are uncontested; Ward Three (and all of Belfast) will choose between two candidates, Brenda Bonneville and Sophia Ridgely Fuller.
The Ward Three contest is about many things, but there are several things it is not about.
It is not about Nordic Aquafarms (the fish farm project), as the council has already… Read more

Nate Davis for Rockland city council
One of the many things that i admire most about Nate Davis is his seemingly unending commitment to civic engagement.
He is a deeply committed citizen of this community and has been actively engaged in doing his part to help with local governance for as long as I’ve known him. He constantly demonstrates commitment to democratic values by listening to various perspectives on issues, and he actively considers the opinions of others.
I wish we had more people like Nate who… Read more
Re-elect Ed Glaser for Rockland City Council
Three years ago, when I endorsed Ed Glaser’s initial candidacy for City Council, it was based on the expectation that he would restore good order to the functioning of city government, something that was sorely lacking at the time. I also believed that Ed was the best candidate to advocate for reasonable and sustainable growth in our city through thoughtful planning and policy making. Today, it is clear that Ed Glaser has exceeded these expectations and is deserving of your vote for re-… Read more
