V-Safe: The CDC’s health checker
If you have received a COVID-19 vaccine shot, you can help the Center for Disease Control record information about side effects, or their absence, through V-safe, an after vaccination health checker launched on Dec. 13. All you need is a smartphone.
During the first five and a half weeks of vaccine administration, two million people voluntarily enrolled in this monitoring system. Participants report on their health and side effects for up to one year.

Labor officials provide unemployment benefits, fraud updates
AUGUSTA — For the week ending January 30, the Maine Department of Labor recorded about 2,700 initial claims filed for state unemployment insurance, and 500 initial claims filed for federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA).
In total, approximately 3,400 people were filing an initial claim or reopening their unemployment claim.
About 17,800 weekly certifications, or continued claims, were filed last week for state unemployment, with another 13,100 weekly certifications… Read more
Maine’s COVID-19 death toll rises by three
AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has announced, Feb. 4, an additional three COVID-19 deaths in the state, bringing the state’s COVID-19 death toll to 630.
