Letter to the editor: Miramant has skills, heart, strength to help turn Maine around
I’ve been married to Dave Miramant for 36 years and would like to offer a view of the man I know and love .
I know the adversity Dave had to face in his early life, overcoming many obstacles in pursuing what matters most to him. The impact of that personal journey has led to his deep commitment to lend a strong voice for those in need. He is motivated by the belief that everyone should have the opportunity and support needed to live out their dreams. Dave believes that we, as a culture, have a fundamental responsibility to help each other.
In critical situations, Dave is the first person I want there to cover my back. Indeed, Dave has had my back for 36-plus years and I’ve watched his clear thinking combined with his willingness to jump into any circumstance to do whatever it takes to turn bad situations around. He has an uncanny ability to see what’s needed and make it happen. He was there during the many years of my work with sexual abuse prevention and serving on the Maine State Rape Coalition; listening to all the challenges and struggles of what women go through in this culture has given him an understanding and awareness that he takes forward in all his work.
Dave deeply loves Maine, its natural beauty, and the people who live here. He’s been passionate for decades finding alternative sources of energy as means of sustainable energy and jobs for our future. I’ve watched the many caring hours he pours into his job as our Senator, working hard to meet the ever-increasing needs of the people in our communities. The challenges we are currently facing are like those never seen before, and knowing Dave as I do, I know he has the skills, heart and strength to help turn Maine around.
I will be casting my ballot for my husband, Senator Dave Miramant, this November 8, and I hope you will, too.
