Camden Rockport Middle School principal receives A+ with New England award
CAMDEN – Camden Rockport Middle School Principal Jaime Stone has won the award for the 2016 New England League of Middle Schools A+ Administrator of the Year. Stone was nominated by a group of staff and students from CRMS and will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Rhode Island at the end of March and also at the School Administrative District 28 Board of Directors March meeting.
One A+ Administrator award is given each year from the six New England states to a middle level principal who champions middle level education, understands how young adolescents learn, supports and models effective middle school philosophy and best practices, and provides outstanding leadership and supervision for effective instructional practices.
The staff and students at CRMS recognized Stone for her compassionate leadership, love of middle school students, support for the development of interdisciplinary projects, and work in creating a safe and fun space for staff and students to learn and grow.
Stone grew up in Maine and studied elementary education at the University of Maine at Orono, later moving to Maryland and earning her master’s in education administration and Supervision at Johns Hopkins University.
Career highlights include helping to open and expand two Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound Schools in Baltimore City and working for Outward Bound as a school designer.
While principal at Southwest Baltimore Charter School, the school received statewide recognition by earning the Visionary School Award for meaningful arts integration and commitment to the arts. Stone lives in Camden with her husband Kevin and two daughters, Maya and Lillia.
Just days ago CRMS art teacher Kristen Andersen was the recipient of the 2017 Maine Art Education Association- Middle Level Art Educator of the Year. The Maine Art Education Association is a statewide professional organization whose members are committed to excellence in visual arts education.
