Korinn Mowrey to lead RDNA Zumba challenge
THOMASTON — On Saturday, April 9, at 11 a.m. at Thomaston Baptist Church, Korinn Mowrey (Scattoloni) will lead the first Zumba Challenge on behalf of the Rockland District Nursing Association. As the pioneer of Zumba for the Midcoast, Korinn Mowrey incorporates traditional Latin dance, swing, hip-hop and African dance styles. She joins RDNA in encouraging all skill levels to participate. No previous Zumba experience is required. Teams of up to five dancers will compete, with a minimum team donation of $150. Preregistration is required by March 25. Space is limited, so please register early.
The need for RDNA nursing services is steadily growing, with nursing hours in 2016 already 30% more than a year ago. Today RDNA regularly sees close to 300 predominantly elderly area residents living independently in South Thomaston, Owls Head, Cushing, St. George, Warren, Union, Thomaston and Rockland. Without federal/state funds or insurance reimbursement, RDNA relies on gifts and contributions to cover the majority of operating costs, with $0.90 of every dollar returning to the community in service. Only through the generosity of this community has RDNA, for 87 years, continuously been able to focus on serving residents who otherwise may not have access to care.
For more information, call RDNA 594-4522. This Challenge is a 2016 Mercy March event in memory of RDNA's founding nurse, Eliza Steele, RN.
