Voters go to the polls Nov. 5 to consider five statewide ballot questions, and various individual municipal warrant articles. Following are election previews and recent issue stories for Knox and Waldo counties, as well as a rundown of the bond issues voters across the state are being asked to decide.

Waldoboro holds Select Board Candidate Night
The town of Waldoboro held a Select Board “meet the candidates” event on May 29 in the town office. There are five candidates for two Select Board seats: William Bragg, Sandra O’Farrell, Branden McGuirl, Abden Simmons, and Rebecca Stephens.
The program was coordinated by Waldoboro resident Seth Hall. It was moderated by Michael Amico. Amico said the questions had previously been sent to the candidates.

OWLS HEAD — Cape Air Station Manager Rocky Stenger, Jr., is set to retire after serving Cape Air, its predecessors and the airport for 60 years. His final day will be November 12. It is a big change for the Knox County Regional Airport community.

‘Maiden’ visits Camden Harbor before sailing to the Azores and Senegal
CAMDEN HARBOR — The sailing vessel Maiden, first made famous in 1989 during the Whitbread Round the World race as her first all-women crew distinguished themselves in a grueling competition, and again as a current ambassador for the empowerment of girls through education, made harbor in Camden last week, tying up at Lyman-Morse before embarking on a transatlantic voyage to West Africa.

Knox Budget Committee, County Commissioners pare down county’s ARPA list
ROCKLAND – Knox County Commissioners and Knox County Budget Committee members wrestled jointly Thursday, February 17, via Zoom over the county’s list of proposed uses of the $7.7 million American Rescue Plan Act funds available through the Knox County apportionment process.

Gov. Mills visits Brodis Blueberries in Hope to announce new round of ARPA funds for Maine farmers, processors
HOPE – The blueberry barrens were abuzz Monday afternoon at Brodis Blueberries with a visit from Governor Janet Mills to announce the state is using $20 million in federal relief funds to directly invest in Maine’s farming communities that have been impacted by COVID-19.
Ron Howard, manager of Brodis Farm said his farm had been impacted significantly by COVID.

Tense moments, accusations of bullying at Knox County Commissioners meeting
