2024 Summer Wine and Sign Series hosts Cynthia Reeves, Laura Bonazzoli
SEARSPORT — Anodyne Book Shop, in Searsport, continues its 2024 Summer Wine and Sign Series on Saturday, June 8, at 5:30 p.m., with Maine authors Cynthia Reeves, author of Falling Through the New World, and Laura Bonazzoli, author of Consecration Pond, for readings and a conversation about the novel-in-stories genre.
Cynthia Reeves is the author of three books of fiction: the novel The Last Whaler forthcoming from Regal House in September; the just-published novel in stories Falling through the New World, which was awarded Gold Wake’s Spring 2023 Fiction Prize; and the novella Badlands, which won Miami University Press’s 2006 Novella Prize. Reeves’s short stories, poetry, and essays have appeared widely. She has been awarded residencies to the Arctic Circle’s 2017 Summer Solstice Expedition, Hawthornden Castle, Galleri Svalbard, and Vermont Studio Center.
A graduate of Warren Wilson’s MFA program, she taught in Bryn Mawr College’s Creative Writing Program and Rosemont College’s MFA program. In August, she will join a hundred artists, scientists, and crew for the Arctic Circle Alumni Expedition that will circumnavigate Svalbard.
Laura Bonazzoli’s short stories, essays, and poetry have appeared in dozens of literary magazines and in anthologies. Her novel-in-stories, Consecration Pond, published in 2022 by Maine indie press Toad Hall Editions, was praised by Publishers Weekly as poetic and haunting. A freelance editor, writer, and teacher, she has upcoming writing workshops with Maine Media Workshops and the Rockport Public Library.
