Marcie Deemer named Director of Oncology for PBMC, WCGH
ROCKPORT — Marcie Deemer has been named the director of Oncology at Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC) and Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH). In this new role, Deemer will take charge of cancer care practices at both PBMC and WCGH, further enhancing the quality of care provided to cancer patients in the region, according to the hospitals, in a news release.
“With over 22 years of dedicated service in cancer care units, Deemer has developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges and needs of cancer patients,” said the hospitals. “Her comprehensive knowledge and compassionate approach have made her an invaluable asset in the field of oncology.”
"Marcie is a driven leader who is focused on fostering a positive and collaborative organizational culture," said Ellen Leone, RN, MSN, chief nursing officer of PBMC and WCGH. “She is the right person to lead our practices as they grow to meet an increasing demand for cancer care."
Deemer joined Pen Bay Cancer Care in April as a nurse manager, bringing with her a wealth of experience. From 2015 to 2021, she served as the oncology care model manager, ambulatory services, at the University Hospitals of Cleveland-Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She has also worked in cancer care at Cleveland Clinic Hirsch Cancer Center and the Akron General Medical Center.
Deemer earned her masters of health administration from Ohio University in 2022 and holds a nursing degree from the University of Akron.
