ROCKPORT — Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC) welcomes India Pappas, MD, to Pen Bay Women’s Health where she will see patients as an obstetrician and gynecologist.

Before joining PBMC, Dr. Pappas served as a resident in the Maine Medical Center Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program in Portland. Obstetricians and gynecologists specialize in women’s reproductive and sexual health. 

Dr. Pappas earned her medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine and participated in the Maine Tracks program. Her volunteer work has included delivering prenatal care to rural communities in Vellore, India, as a member of a mobile medical clinic.

During COVID, PBMC has adopted additional measures to keep patients and staff safe.

Patients are strongly encouraged to maintain regular screening schedules, especially for pap smears, colonoscopy and mammography, to ensure that best possible health outcomes, according to PBMC, in a news release.

“ The medical staff at PBMC strongly believe that the vaccine is safe, effective and the best way to end the pandemic,” said PBMC. “If you haven’t already, please get vaccinated.”
