Samuel F. Glover, Jr., obituary
HOPE — Samuel F. Glover, Jr., 65, beloved husband of Allison Fox-Glover, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Friday, August 27, 2021 following a courageous two year battle with cancer.
Born in Rockland, September 8, 1955, he was the son of Samuel, Sr. and Grace Russell Glover. Sam was educated locally, and graduated from Camden Rockport High School in 1973.
Following high school he attended the Calhoon MEBA Engineering school in Maryland and graduated to become a licensed officer in the United States Merchant Marine. Sam spent the early part of his career as an engineering officer traveling the world in the Merchant Marine aboard deep sea ships, tugboats and luxury yachts.
Returning to his beloved home town, Sam went into business with his brother Bill Glover. For several years, they worked together at Hard Chine Engineering building custom aluminum boats.
In 1992, Sam met the love of his life, Allison Fox. Married in 1997, the pair spent many wonderful years together, working side by side, running Fox Associates, where Sam put his skills to work as a Landscape Design Engineer. When not hard at work, they were always laughing, sharing stories and having fun. Fishing, camping and boating were some of their most treasured times together. As a young man, Sam enjoyed skiing.
He was extremely mechanically minded and knew something about everything. He loved nothing more than figuring out how something worked. Allison remembered, he was the smartest person with the best sense of humor.
Sam will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
Predeceased by his father in 1988; a brother, Edward Glover in 2016; and his mother, just three months ago; Sam is survived by his wife, Allison Fox-Glover of Hope; his daughter, Lindsay Guttery and her husband David and their daughter Avery Gresh of Aurora, Colorado; his brother Bill Glover and his wife Jill of Rockport; his sister, Nancy Glover of South Portland; his nephews, W. Josiah Glover, Samuel R. Glover, Matthew Dailey and his wife Jennifer Wayland, Joshua Glover; and several great-nieces and great nephew.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 4 p.m., at 1430 Moody Mountain Road in Searsmont. The indoor/outdoor celebration will be held rain or shine.
